COMMUNITY IMPACT

Junior League of Mobile is known for tackling issues through leadership, collaboration and compassionate service. Our community programs focus on childhood hunger, fitness and nutrition. Research shows nearly 34,000 children in our area don’t always have enough to eat; one-in-seven low-income preschoolers is obese; and only one-third of high school students get the recommended amount of exercise.

JLM members are making a measurable impact to move the needle on these important issues.

There are a number of ways that you and your organization can connect with JLM. Listed below are six methods through which the community can receive assistance from JLM and its members.

Community Collaborations–JLM reaches out to our community by offering opportunities to work together with other nonprofit agencies and schools to discover ways that we can collaborate to improve the effectiveness of agencies, services, and programs in our community. Meetings are no charge and held at the Junior League of Mobile on a semi-annual basis. Scheduled meetings are always posted on the JLM’s main public page of our website. Review this site for more information regarding these exciting opportunities.

Community Action Team –JLM Community Action Team projects focus on short, intensive projects/events.  Once identified, JLM provides trained volunteers and funding to accomplish the project. On this site, review past projects, current projects, and get applications to apply to be a JLM’s next Community Action Team project.

Apply to be a Community Project–JLM partners with organizations that share its mission to effectively and positively impact our community. This is the site for you if you are looking for volunteers and funding for specific projects.

Provisional Class Project — Annually JLM accepts proposals from nonprofit agencies in the greater Mobile and Baldwin County areas to assist in programs to benefit the local community. JLM Provisional Class members work on the selected projects throughout their first year in JLM. JLM provides the initial funding of the project which includes volunteer assistance from JLM.

Community Assistance Fund (CAF)–Allows JLM to respond financially to needs and opportunities without the required volunteer component or project involvement. Review this site if you are interesting in getting CAF specifications, timeframes, and applications.

JLM Speakers Bureau–A listing of JLM members willing to speak to your organization or at your special events at no charge. On this site, you will be able to review a list of speakers, topics of expertise and short speaker biographies to choose the perfect speaker for your next event!
