“Be Your Best Self” day was held on June 19th with the Distinguished Young Women (DYW) class of 2026 from across the country. The event was a great success, beginning with a traditional southern breakfast at headquarters where the participants heard from Chairperson Jamie Talley regarding the Junior League of Mobile and our community partners.

The girls split into four groups to complete various service projects across the community with donations provided by Junior League of Mobile:

– Ronald McDonald House: The group assembled 200 toiletry bags donated by the Junior League, wrote welcome letters to future residents, and baked cookies for families.
– Fostering Together Gulf Coast: Participants organized over 30 packs of diapers and wipes from the Junior League’s Diaper Bank, assembled 100 toiletry bags, and prepared tags for the upcoming back-to-school backpack initiative.
– Prodisee Pantry: The girls packed applesauce bags and assisted in preparing the pantry for its next distribution day.
– Love All Pantry: The group packed 300 toiletry bags donated by the Junior League of Mobile.

After completing their service work, the groups returned to headquarters for lunch catered by Taco Mama and a photobooth provided by Lights by the Bay. During lunch, the girls shared reflections on their experiences at each service site. Due to a power outage at their previously scheduled location, the DYW class remained at our headquarters through the afternoon to complete their rehearsals.

It was an impactful day of service and collaboration, and we are grateful for the partnership that JLM has with the Distinguished Young Women.
